Student FAQs

Common questions about applying for entrepreneurship schemes

Do I need a registered company to apply for CMYUY 2.0?

No — sole proprietorship with a current account, PAN, and Udyam registration is enough. Pvt Ltd / LLP is only needed if you take equity funding later.

What is DPIIT recognition and why does it matter?

DPIIT recognition (free, via startupindia.gov.in) unlocks 80-IAC tax holiday, SISFS access, easier compliance, and faster patent processing. Recognition is on company / LLP for up to 10 years from incorporation.

Can a student apply for these schemes before graduating?

Yes for most schemes — CMYUY, MUDRA, PMEGP, Standup India accept individual borrowers age 18+. Stand-Up India is gender / caste targeted. For SISFS the startup must be registered, which usually happens after graduation.

Where do I actually apply for each scheme?

CMYUY · iStart · Rajasthan MSME → sso.rajasthan.gov.in. PMEGP → KVIC ePortal. MUDRA → any scheduled commercial bank. SISFS → an approved incubator. Udyam → udyamregistration.gov.in (free).

Are there any women-only schemes I should know?

Yes — Stand-Up India (₹10L-₹1Cr greenfield), Mahila Coir Yojana, PMFME (women + SC/ST priority), MUDRA (extended weight to women), and Banasthali WomenStart pre-incubation programme.

What is Rising Rajasthan and how is it relevant to me?

Rising Rajasthan is the state's investor summit programme (₹35 lakh crore MoUs in 2024). For young founders, the single-window investor portal makes state approvals, land, and sector incentives faster, and the sectoral policies (EV, renewables, tourism, IT) offer pre-defined incentives.
